Like the image from another recent post, this was taken quite literally on the banks of the Don River. This raccoon, I suspect quite young, was out in the middle of day, which is something you don't often see. There was nothing else in this tree that I could detect, so I guess he was just goofing around.
Many years ago while jogging I surprised a raccoon very early in the morning and in a complete panic it attempted to climb a nearby No Parking sign. With a lot of slipping and sliding it actually succeeded...and ended up right at my eye level. Not great as escape plans go.
