Just a Sparrow

Going on our theory that it's better to have a good shot of a common animal than than a bad shot of a rare one, here's a nice look at one of your most common and (seemingly) forgettable birds: a sparrow. But before you write off sparrows completely as wildlife too mundane and dull to bother with, realize there are thirty-two species of sparrow in North America. Not all pass through or hang out in Toronto but many do, all kinds of subtle variations and varieties, so always pay attention to what's around you. And if you have a camera and see a bird, take its picture quick...you may be surprised at what you've captured an image of.

To drive my point home, this is easily one of the most common of the common sparrows, an American Tree Sparrow, likely a male. I'd say he looks pretty cool.
